WILLIAM BRYAN DIXON Sr. Obituary
POQUOSON - USMC MSGT Ret. William "Bill" Bryan Dixon, 88, passed away at Sentara Careplex on Monday, February 19, 2018. Born in Salisbury, MD, he joined the Marine Corps at just 17 years of age in 1945. He retired as a MSGT after 30 years of dedicated service having served in the Korean War and Vietnam. He was most proud of his assignment in China in 1946 and loved working at the American Embassy in Paris. After his retirement he worked at Uniflight Boat Manufacturer and Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, NC where he met his wife, Barbara. Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Dixon; his son, William "Bill" Dixon, Jr. and his granddaughter, Tiffany White. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Barbara A. Dixon; his daughter, Nancy Grizzard and her husband, Jeff; his sons, John Dixon and his wife, Juanita and Mark Dixon and his wife, Miranda; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and his great-great-grandchild, Declan. Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11:00am by Dr. Rev. Jim Earley at Tabernacle United Methodist Church with Military Honors. A reception will follow at the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The or Toys for Tots. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
