William Walton Bishop Jr. Obituary
POQUOSON - William Walton "Billy" Bishop Jr., 63, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at home. He was a native of Allendale, South Carolina, and a Poquoson resident for 29 years. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina in Columbia, and retired in 2010 as Sales Manager for Hampton Roads Harley Davidson after 12 years. He was a Baptist. William Bishop was a proud father and loving husband. His love for motorcycles and the Carolina Gamecocks was only exceeded by the love and wisdom he shared with his family and friends. We truly believe that he did not "lose" his battle to cancer considering he never let the cancer conquer his mind or spirit. He touched every person he met with encouragement, laughter, and love. We, his family, are truly blessed. Billy was preceded in death by his father, William Walton Bishop Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Linda Geissinger Bishop; daughter, Cassie Bishop Burnette & husband, Daniel of Yorktown; son, Jesse Walton Bishop & wife, Valerie of Poquoson; mother, Virginia Jesse Bishop of Allendale; two brothers, Randy Bishop & wife, Tamara of Hampton, SC, and Barry Bishop & life partner, Billy Brooks of Los Angeles, CA; two sisters, Janice Bishop of Allendale, and Sandra Polk & husband, Dickie of Hampton, SC; and many loving nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday, 2-4:00 PM, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. A Celebration of Billy's life will be held Monday, 11:00 AM, at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, Poquoson, by Pastor James H. "Jay" Bowen. Burial will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News. "Motorcycle enthusiasts are encouraged to ride their bikes to the funeral & participate in his last ride to the graveside."
