NEWPORT NEWS - Virginia Leake Timberlake, 99, and a life-long resident of Newport News, passed away Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at James River Convalescent Center.
Together with her husband, she operated Timberlake Self Service Food Market, for over 40 years. She was a 1931 graduate of Newport News High School, and a member of Open Door Baptist Church.
Mrs. Timberlake was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Timberlake, in 1995.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy T. Spencer and husband, Donald of Newport News; four grandchildren, Stacey McKittrick and Susan Waldman of Denver, Colo., Amy Westerkamp of Gloucester, and S. Brent Spencer of Richmond; and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at Peninsula Memorial Park, by the Rev. Clarence Hilling.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Open Door Baptist Church, 14 Deep Creek Rd., Newport News, VA 23606.
