NAGS HEAD, NC - Stacy Ferguson Mann, Sr., 92, of Nags Head, NC passed peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Peak Resources - Outer Banks. A native of Manns Harbor, NC, he was the son of the late Edward Lee Mann and Clarice Louellen Hayman. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 46 years Vivian Londeree Mann. Stacy served his country honorably with the United States Army in the 329th Infantry Regiment, 38th Division during World War II. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the Army Occupation Medal (Germany), the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Ribbon, and the Purple Heart Medal. He served from May 1944 to April 1946. He was a sharpshooter pistol, expert M-1 Rifle, expert 57mm AT gun, expert carbine. Stacy was born in Manns Harbor but at a very young age his family moved to Newport News, VA. In 1943 he married Vivian and made Newport News their home raising a family of four children. While in Newport News he was a member of the Bremond Lodge 241 AF&AM. After retiring as a Machinist II from Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry-dock Co., he moved back to the Outer Banks and made South Nags Head his home. Stacy is survived by a daughter, Carol Williams and husband, George of Swan Quarter; three sons, Stacy F. Mann, Jr. and wife, Linda of Newport News, Edward A. Mann and wife, DeeDee of Hampton, VA and Paul H. Mann and wife, Robin of Manns Harbor; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Along with his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by a sister, Hilda Acre; and two brothers, Archie and Linwood Mann. The family will receive friends and relatives at Twiford Funeral Home, Manteo from 6:00 until 8:00pm on Thursday, October 8, 2015 and other times at the home of Paul and Robin Mann, 6049 Hwy 64, Manns Harbor, NC 27953. A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 2:00pm at Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News, VA with Pastor Don Phelps officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dare Challenge, PO Box 123, Wanchese, NC 27981. Twiford Funeral Home, Manteo is assisting the family with arrangements.
