
Michael William Maupin
Michael William Maupin died Monday, May 5, 2008.
Mr. Maupin was born in 1937, in Charlottesville, Virginia, the son of the late Herbert and Arnita Glass Maupin.
Mr. Maupin graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 1959, and was President of his class. After military service, Mr. Maupin attended the University of Virginia School of Law, graduating in 1964. Following a clerkship with Justice Tom C. Clark on the United States Supreme Court, Mr. Maupin joined Hunton and Williams LLP in 1965, where he practiced law until his retirement.
Among other civic activities, Mr. Maupin was a member of the Board of the Richmond Symphony and past President of the Virginia Chapter of The Nature Conservancy.
Mr. Maupin is survived by his wife, Virginia Powell; his son, William Maupin and his wife, Jeanine, of New York City, and his son ,John Maupin and his girlfriend, Sarah Wyse, of Orlando, Florida.
There will be a graveside memorial service 2 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008, at Monticello Memory Gardens, 670 Thomas Jefferson Parkway, Charlottesville, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Richmond Symphony or the Virginia Chapter of The Nature Conservancy.
