Martha was like a sister. Ever since she was my roommate at Eisenhower, we shared a closeness that is rare in life. Funny, queen of sarcasm, protective, loyal, free with advice (which was usually spot-on), and so loving. When Martha passed away this week, I was on a trip down the Rhine and it was as if the entire world stopped.
I feel so blessed that she shared her family with mine and that we spent three weeks together in 2019. I miss you Mr. Rickershay!
There will never be another Martha.

Having had the pleasure of knowing and working with Martha only a few short months I'm amazed at the positive impact she had with our Village. Martha's dedication, commitment, tenacity and thirst for knowledge was unbelievable. It seemed Martha was always reading about our environment, meeting with Eliot town officials, DEP representatives or off attending training in support of our Village at Great Brook and the environment that she cared so deeply for. Martha will be greatly missed as our neighbor and the Chairwomen of our Beautification Committee. Martha clearly was " one of a kind ".
Heartfelt Condolences,

We are so sad that Martha passed away. She was not in Eliot long but she contributed so much. She was in charge
Of the Beautification committee, she dug her heels in and investigated what we all needed to be aware of, such as plantings and what is native to the area. Also so much more than that. Martha was Smart, witty and fun to be with. She was so happy to be near her family. She was always talking about Caleb, and how much she loved spending time with him!!
We will all miss Martha very much.

Dear Juliana,
I was so saddened to hear about your mom passing. I have known Martha since you were a little girl and she was coming to the library. I always enjoyed talking with her, she was smart and witty, resourceful and creative. She loved her family very much and was so proud of you and Caleb. I am grateful for knowing her.
Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Dear Juliana,
I am sorry to learn of your Mom's passing and my heart goes out to you, your husband and Caleb. Martha was so happy to have moved closer to you and Caleb and loved every minute she spent with you all. I enjoyed all my conversations with your Mom over the years at the library, she was smart, informed and firm in her beliefs. She will be missed.

We're very sorry for this news. Martha and Andrew had too brief a time on the earthplane. Our heartfelt condolences to Juliana and the rest of the family.

Oh, Juliana, this news is just too hard to believe. We were friends of your wonderful parents long before you were even born. Your arrival was the happiest day of their lives. Just last night for dinner I made scrambled eggs the way Andrew taught me many moons ago. Since then, I have always thought of him on Sunday morning while scrambling. Little things do mean a lot. Your mom was such a trooper, sharing with your dad in all their passions of design and art. Hopefully heaven has enough room for their creativity and visions.
I have another memory to share with you. My email is [email protected]. Yours?
Love to you, my dear,
Nancy

I miss you Marth! We stayed to play together in the 'snow tunnels". I was so cold; but you were still warm.

We were so saddened to hear the news of Martha's passing. We will miss her waving at us through the sunroof of her car, as she drove by our house. It was such a pleasure to have here show us her treasures in her home. Her knowledge of her art was awe inspiring! With sympathy, John and Michelle Hunt
