Barbara J. Sherman Hanson

AGE: 79 • Oak Ridge

Barbara J. Sherman Hanson, "Bobbe", 79, of Oak Ridge, NJ., most recently of Milford, PA., passed away at Belle Reve Senior Living Community in Milford, PA., on Thursday, January 30, 2014. Barbara was born on September 8, 1934 in Englewood, NJ. She is predeceased by her parents Eleanor (nee Meisel) and George Pedersen.

Barbara proudly served as a Wave in the US Navy from 1952 to 1956, where she earned her nursing degree. She was employed from 1977 until her retirement at St. Clares Hospital in Denville, NJ as a Nurse Aid and a Telemetry Technician in the ICU unit. Barbara married Arthur Hanson in 1959 and together they raised their three children in Oak Ridge, NJ. Barbara enjoyed volunteering much of her time to the VFW # 564 in Milton, NJ and to the American Legion, Tri- County Post # 423 in Milton, NJ.

She will best be remembered for her annual 4th of July party. Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband Arthur (Buddy) in 2002. She is survived by her adored children: Lori Hanson Saunders and her husband Michael of Saint Albans, MO., Cliff Hanson of Dingmans Ferry, PA and Cindymari Hanson Shanley and her husband Tom of Largo, Fl., her cherished grandchildren: Courtney and Casey Hanson, Jordan Saunders, and Ryleemari Shanley, her dear siblings: Eleanor Maloney, George Pedersen, and Maryellen Doering, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, February 3, 2014 from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home, 187 LaRue Road, Newfoundland, NJ 07435 (GPS use nearest cross street 1 Post Place). A prayer service will take place on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 10 AM at the funeral home. The interment will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Park in Clifton, NJ.
