AGE: 98 • Denville

Helen E. Izzo, 98, died on Wed. Feb. 5, 2014 at Morris View Nursing Home in Morris Twp., NJ. She was born in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Denville in 1958.

She was an executive Secretary, and she had retired as the Office Manager at Rockaway River Country Club in Denville. Helen had an overwhelming desire to be of service to both her church and community. She was active at St. Mary's Church and was a member of the Columbiettes and the Rosary Society.

She volunteered at St. Clare's Hospital, St. Mary's School, Morris Catholic High School, Denville Senior Citizens Club Wednesday Group, the Denville Republican Club as well as a Denville Republican County Committee member, and she volunteered as an organist for the VFW Memorial Services and the NJ Foundation for the Blind in Denville. Her husband Joseph died on Feb. 5, 2005 and her infant daughter Suzanne died previously. She is survived by her children Jo-Ann Blaker of West Virginia, Gregory Izzo of Denville and his wife Betty Ann, Donna Costello (Frank) of Dover, and Edward (Sharon) of Denville. Her grandchildren Bernadette Aaron, Brian and Jen Aaron, Bill and Cheri Costello, Chris and Angela Izzo, Dan and Kate Izzo and Elizabeth Izzo, as well as eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Georgia MacKay of Florida. Helen had two special grandsons through love, Matthew and Andrew Saskowitz and her dearest friend Barbara Lyman as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 9:00 AM for a 10:00 AM Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Denville, NJ. She will be laid to rest with her husband Joe in Denville Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Monday, February 10, 2014.
