Succasunna - John Butler, 74, a 40-year resident of Succasunna, NJ passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018 in Dover, NJ. John was born on June 16, 1943 in Upper Darby, PA. John graduated from Rutgers University and was a Pension and Defined Benefits Specialist for Prudential and various other major retirement plan service companies.

John was a very positive person who loved spending time with friends and family. He and was extremely charitable and devoted much of his time to the church and community. John was a 4th degree Knight and former Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus #6320; a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and the Irish American Association; former Grand Marshall of the Morris County St. Patrick Day Parade in Morristown; and a board member of the Department of Persons with Disabilities. He also enjoyed playing golf, going to Broadway shows, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events.

John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Butler (nee Ruoff), his daughters, Kelly Musmanno and Al, and Teri Burke and Shawn, his grandchildren, Jake, Zack, and Colin, his siblings, Dennis and Debbie Butler, Brian and Marti Butler, Jill Fried and Dan, and Jill Butler, and many loving nieces, nephews, and godchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Stanley & Mary, & his brother, Richard.

A Celebration of John's Life will include a visitation on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 4pm to 8pm at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road (Corner of Rt. 206), Chester, NJ (908) 879-3090. A 10am funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday January 24 at St. Therese Church in Succasunna, NJ. Interment will be held privately by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Department of Person with Disabilities (DPD) at
