AGE: 92 • Boonton Twp.

Mary Darmochwal died on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Merry Heart Nursing Home in Boonton Twp. She was 92. Born in Orange, she was one of the last surviving members of the Orange High School Class of 1938. Mary resided in Rockaway Twp. for many years with her husband, Fred Martucci, whom she married in 1942. Together they co-owned and operated Martucci Bus Co. in Dover, where Mary was one of the first female bus drivers in the State. Fred died in 1963, and Mary continued to operate the bus company until 1965. In 1977, she married Bill Darmochwal. They lived in Connecticut until their retirement in 1980 and moved to Naples, FL. Bill died in 1997, and Mary remained in Florida until moving to Boonton in 2008. Mary was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, and the Lakewood Country Club in Naples.

Mary was predeceased by three brothers, Danny, Leonard and Nicholas, and her sister, Antoinette. She is survived by two daughters, Marianne Pecoraro and her husband Andrew of Duluth, GA, and Gloria Benson and her husband Don of Rockaway; two step-daughters, Fran Ward of CT and Ellen Duernberger of WA; five grandchildren, Andrew Pecoraro and his wife Mary Jo, James Pecoraro, Gina Infante and her husband Mike, Brian Benson and his wife Carla, and Susan Wilson and her husband Aaron; and 10 great-grandchildren, Devan, Keira, Andrew, Isabel and Riley Pecoraro, Jacob and William Infante, Nora Benson, and Connor and Logan Wilson.

A memorial gathering will be held Monday, May 6th from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Whitham-Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave, Rockaway. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 7th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia's Church, 70 Church St., Rockaway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Hospice of NJ, 400 Broadacres Dr., Bloomfield, NJ 07003. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to:
