AGE: 47 • Parsippany
Michael F. Masar, 47, passed away Feb. 25, 2013 in Parsippany, NJ. Michael was born and raised in the Taylortown section of Montville, N.J. He was a Maintenance Mechanic for St. Clares Hospital, in Denville and was a member of the Rockaway Township Soccer Association.
He was predeceased by his beloved parents Frank and Maria Masar , in 1996. Michael was the loving father of Mathew and Tyler, of Rockaway, NJ. He is survived by his loving sisters Sue Ann Glower and husband Donald of Chapel Hill, NC, and Mary Clare van den Heuvel and husband Stanley of Branchville, NJ; cherished uncle of Clare and Maria Glower, and Daniel and Heidi van den Heuvel. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at Dangler Lewis & Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main St. in Boonton, NJ from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Interment will be private, at a later date. Letters of condolences may be posted at www.Danglerlewisandcareyfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael's name to: Montville Fire Department 108 Main Rd. Montville, N.J. 07045.

I know Father's Day is a week away but I find it fitting to honor you now by lighting this candle. You were a second dad to my sister and I. We were on your daily call list. There are days I miss mom passing the phone to me and hearing your voice on the other end . Mom has always been overprotective so I knew when she exposed you to us you must have been someone very special. We reminisce with stories of you and mom. You knew each other's little quirks and annoyances. You gave us a lot of memories to cherish. One memory comes to mind when the four of us went to dinner and you thought mom me and my sister were asleep in the car and you started singing this song on the radio. I heard that song recently by Chicago called Just You and Me. I wondered if it was a sign to tell me that you were watching over Us! I hope so. Thank you for the memories! Happy Father's Day!

How ironic my friend that I finally meet the woman you refered to as your soul mate. I can see why. She was hesitant at first to say anything until I told her my name and she said that you talked about us and our high school days. I could tell that even talking for those few minutes you confided in her about everything. How weird the way we met by chance you must have had something to do with it. Her kids are beautiful her youngest said she sees you in her dreams . Way to go man you finally got this one right!

We have tried and tried to figure out one word that described you and D and that word is "Inseparable"! You two had the kind of love and respect for each other some people envied. Thank you two for showing us all the true meaning of commitment and love! Rest assure that we have been making sure she is doing ok but have a feeling you know that already ! I met you and Deanna when she checked me into the Emergency Room. I saw her again over the weekend when I brought my grandson in and I asked where her "bodyguard" was. She told me the sad news of your passing and the grief and tears overflowed. You looked at her with such love and respect the two of you had this special bond I could tell immediately and you had said she was your baby and I remembered telling you both how you reminded me of my husband and I. May you watch Deanna from heaven and always be her "bodyguard". You may be gone but I can see from Deanna's face you will never be forgotten.

I never knew Mr. Masar, but have had his two sons in my Physics class, Matt and Tyler. Both sons were a pleasure to have in class and I am sorry to hear that their father has passed away. I know that Tyler has a love for soccer like his father. Matthew was a good student and both teenagers were respectful and insightful in class. It is a shame they lost their father so early, but may his character be reflected in the sons and keep his spirit alive.

Coach Mike, You knew dealing with today's youth would be a daunting task. Yet you took it on when so many others took a pass. To have even a small part in making a positive impression for our children is a blessing. You were one of the lucky ones who stepped up and enjoyed the wonderful opportunity to do just that. Each small positive impression can join with others and make a huge difference in a person's life. Your legacy will live in the memories of those youngsters who received your mentoring.

Michael, Michael Motorcycle. Not even sure how that came about, but I know when we were kids it made the 2 of us laugh on the bus down Taylortown Rd. to William H. Mason school.
Mike was a good pal and I have some really sweet memories from my childhood of us being close friends, I am so sorry for all those left behind especially his family who will find comport in the lessons and the memory of him.
