Arthur Faber Obituary
Stroudsburg, PA - Arthur Faber, 85, of Stroudsburg, PA, died peacefully at the home of his loving daughter, Susan, on Monday, September 10, 2018.
Born at home in Parsippany, NJ on July 31, 1933, he was the son of the late Jouw and Dora (nee Hoogsteen) Faber. Art was brought up on a dairy farm, raised a ruckus as a teenager, and later became a well-respected builder. He was proud to have built a half dozen churches in the NY/NJ area in addition to renovating a good part of Morris County, NJ.
An avid NASCAR fan, his claim to fame was driving in a 1954 NASCAR race alongside Lee Petty. Art was a big man with a big heart. He adored his family, loved babies, country music, everything about nature, and the NY Mets. His last memory, the night before he passed, was watching the Mets win with a cold beer which made him smile.
He is survived by his children, Susan (Robert) Mariani, of Branchburg, NJ, Dawid (Michelle) of the NJ shore, Kathy (William) Siegrist of Wellsboro, PA; 12 grandchildren Arlene, Kathleen, Raymond, Daniel, Valerie, Molly, Kenneth, Allison, Olivia, Sophia, Giovanni and Julia; 8 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Cora (Howard) Muller of Grand Rapids, MI.
In addition to his parents, Art was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Grace Molly (nee Triplett) Faber; a son Arthur, Jr.; daughter, Lynne Ackerly; sisters Ann Garie and Cathy Richtmyer and girlfriend Julie Chain.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Noon on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at the Parsippany Christian Church, 205 Vail Road, Parsippany, NJ with Pastor Tom Hart officiating. Come, bring your stories of Art, and join the family for lunch after the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the education fund of Julia Kutcher, c/o Kathy Siegrist, 114 Hemlock Circle, Wellsboro, PA 16901.
