Simon "Fra" Fred Carron, Sr.

June 30, 1915 - February 26, 2014

OPELOUSAS - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church for Mr. Simon Fred Carron, Sr., 98, who entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 in League City, TX.

Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Father Jaison Mangalath, S.V.D., will officiate at the Mass of Christian burial.

Simon Fred Carron, Sr. was born in Opelousas, Louisiana on June 30, 1915 to Sidney and Sedonna Carron. He was one of nine children born to this union. As a youth, he assisted his parents in farming. He and the late Loubertha Savoy were married at a very young age. They are the parents of eight children. He was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas.

"Fra", as he was lovingly called, lived a long, healthy, vibrant life. Everyone knew him to be friendly, loving, jovial, spry, and helpful to others. He enjoyed zydeco with family and friends. For more than fifty years, he was actively, self-employed in lawn care and maintenance until approximately three months before his death.

On February 26, 2014, he departed from this life in League City, Texas while under the home care of one of his daughters, Margaret Carron McGraw.

He leaves to celebrate his long life and cherish his memories, two sons Wilbert Carron of Zachery, LA and Simon Carron Jr. (Pearlanna) of Port Arthur, TX; three daughters Emily Renee (William) of Lake Charles, LA, Margaret Carron McGraw of League City, TX, and Mary L. Jackson (Earnest) of Port Arthur, TX; one daughter-in-law Mary Ann Carron of Opelousas, LA and two sons-in-law Freddie Sam of Houston, TX and Delton Narcisse of Port Arthur, TX and one sister, Louella Carron Collins of Galveston, TX. Also celebrating his long life and cherishing his memories are 33 grandchildren, 67 great grandchildren, 23 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Loubertha Carron, one son, Earnest Carron (Mary Ann), two daughters, Berenice Sam (Freddie) and Bernadine Narcisse (Delton); one daughter-in-law, Corine (Wilbert); four brothers, Alex Carron, Wilton Carron, Rayfield Carron and Leroy Carron and three sisters Wilda Carron Manuel, Anna Carron Hooper, and Lovenia Carron Raynuald.

Visiting hours will be observed from 7:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Williams Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA.
