GRAND COTEAU - Funeral services will be held Friday, June 13, 2014 at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church for Maxine Plumbar, age 77, the former Maxine Hardy, who passed away Monday, June 9, 2014 at 1:16 p.m. at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.

Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau.

Mrs. Plumbar was a native of Grand Coteau and had been a resident of Lafayette for the past 25 years. She was employed with the St. Landry Parish School Board for more than 10 years. From childhood she attended St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau and later became a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette. Mrs. Plumbar was an excellent seamstress and homemaker. She was also a wonderful cook. She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Lloyd Plumbar of Lafayette; five sons, Harold H. Plumbar and wife, Elnora, of Lafayette, Lloyd Edward Plumbar and wife, Sarah, of Sunset, John Plumbar and wife, Amanda, Anthony Plumbar and wife, Alanda, and Calvin Plumbar, all of Lafayette; six daughters, Loretta Bernard and husband, Bobby, Sr., Wanda Thibeaux and husband, Nathan, all of Youngsville, Claudia Orphe' and husband, Ray, Sr., of St. Martinville, Marva Auzenne and husband, Chris, of Lafayette, Melissa Goodly and husband, Bernard, of Madison, AL, Angela Malveaux and husband, Clint, of Corinth, TX; four brothers, Columbus Hardy of Opelousas, Charles Hardy of Seattle, WA, Howard Hardy of Grand Coteau, Joseph Hardy and wife, Doris, of Port Arthur, TX; twenty-six grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Hardy and the former Lucille Jean, both natives of Grand Coteau; two brothers, Edward Hardy, Marion Hardy; and two sisters, Mable Smith and Annie Mae Davis Graves.

A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 a.m. Friday until service time on Friday.

Pallbearers will be Lloyd Edward Plumbar, Jr., Joshua Plumbar, Benjamin Goodly, Matthew Orphé, Bobby James Bernard, Jr. and Harold Timothy Plumbar.
