NATIONS, Jeanene Jeanene (Thompson) Nations, 88, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2021. A loving wife, mother, grandmother (Nana), and great grandmother, she will be missed greatly by all whose lives she nourished and enriched. Jeanene was born in Dallas, Texas, to R.L. and Mary Catherine (Bell) Thompson just minutes before her identical twin sister, Jeanette, on October 16, 1932. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and attended Southern Methodist University. Jeanene met the love of her life, James, at Ross Avenue Baptist Church, where they married on November 20, 1954. As a long-time member of Ross Avenue and then Casa View Baptist Church, she loved to share her belief in Christ by singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School to young women. Raising four children with James, Jeanene was a "homemaker" in the most meaningful sense of that word. She worked hard to provide a home where all were welcome and well-fed. Even when her children were grown, she continued the tradition of preparing delicious Sunday dinners for her family that now included grandchildren. Nevertheless, Jeanene was not a homebody; she also enjoyed eating out with lifelong friends each weekend. Jeanene was an avid shopper, often for herself but even more for others. She loved to spoil her children and grandchildren with special Christmas gifts and family trips to the mountains, the beach, and Disney World. In recent years, after the passing of her beloved husband, Jeanene was supported immeasurably by the love and companionship of her cousin, Linda Muhl, and long-time friend, Florene Adams. Jeanene's family is beyond grateful for all they did to bring joy to her life and is also thankful for the nurses who provided compassionate care during her final days at Seasons Hospice. Jeanene was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 54 years, James F. Nations, sister Jeanette Hanks and husband, Dale, and brother Bob Thompson and wife, Torchy. Those left to cherish her memory are son James D. Nations, and daughters Cathryn Dailey and husband Steve, Debra Petrie and husband Mark, and Tricia Forshee and husband Kurt; grandchildren Kristen, Lauren, Matt, Katelyn, Cameron, Anna, Meg, and Sam; seven great-grandchildren; brothers Ron Thompson and wife Joni, and Don Thompson and wife Annette; and many nieces and nephews. Following a family burial service at Restland Memorial Park, a celebration of Jeanene's life will be held at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church on Thursday, April 8, at 1:00 p.m. Masks will be required. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church (
