Robert Maddoux Obituary

MADDOUX, ROBERT MARLIN, age 70, a resident of Copper Canyon, TX. Born May 4, 1933 in Fletcher, TX to A.H. and Ruby Maddoux. Passed away on March 4, 2004 in Irving, TX. Marlin Maddoux was the founder and president of International Christian Media and host of Point of View Radio Talk Show, as well as a noted journalist and author. His radio program was heard daily via satellite on more than 360 radio stations around the world. In 1986, Maddoux was given the National Religious Broadcasters Award of Merit. In 1994 Christianity Today magazine called Point of View America's most popular live Christian call-in show." In 1985 Maddous founded USA Radio Network, which today is one of the nation's fastest growing news radio networks with more than 1,300 affiliates across the nation. In 1994 the National Religious Broadcaster awarded the USA Radio Network its "Program Producer of the Year" award. Maddoux was a frequent guest on national television and radio broadcasts including. "CBS Morning New@, ABC's "Nightline", ABC's "Good Morning America," "CNN," "Focus on the Family," and many others. He was an invited guest at the White House on several occasions, having met with both President Ronald Regan and President George Bush, the was the author of several books. including America Betrayed, What Worries Parents Most. Free Speech or Propaganda? and A Christian Agenda: Game Plan for a New Era. His latest book was a novel, Seal of Gaia. He is survived by his wife, Mary, three sons, Mark Maddoux and his wife Julie, David Maddoux, and Tim Maddoux and his wife Tracy, daughter, Maria Kelley and her husband Warren, sister, Lois Theiler, Grandchildren, Matthew, John, Carly, Jenneh, Alysha, Corrine, Kelsey, Kyndall, Kris, Ashley, and Timothy. Public viewing will be held on Monday, March 8, 2004 at 9:00am at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, TX. Funeral services will begin at 11:00am at Prestonwood Baptist Church with Rev. Kermit Bridges officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to "Point of View" to continue Marlin's work of informing America. I first started listening to Marlin in the early 80s. He has contributed so much in informing the public on critical issues. He will be missed greatly.
