I didn't know the Shaw's but understand that they meant very much to many people. How unfortunate that such a thing happened, but earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal. I am praying for continued strength for all who are in bereavement.

Rufus, you were always my hero. I admired you running track at Lincoln and I always wanted to test how fast I was by beating you and the Pouncy twins, but I never got the chance. I thank you for your advice and the friendship to my father, Royal. I treasure it all and you have impacted me more than you could have realized. GOD has now Blessed you both. May you rest in peace. Peace my brother, I will miss you dearly, for Dallas is a much sadder place today. Thank you for the life lessons you taught me. Your friend always,

Now the laborer’s task is over;
Now the Battle day is past;
Now upon the farther shore
Lands the voyager at last.

It is with great sorrow that we part with our friends Rufus and Lynn on this side of Jordan, but oh what joy when we meet on the other side. When we reach that blessed homeland, Where there's everlasting day; On that bright and blessed morning, God shall wipe all tears away. Justice will flow down like a river and there will be a everlasting valley of peace

Always bear in mind that spirit was never born and spirit can never die. Remember that God gives grace for each trial, and courage for each sorrow and faith to face in confidence a blessed, sweet, blissful and bright tomorrow.

I met Rufus Shaw during his early school days at Lincoln High School. He was both a gifted athlete and a profound scholar as well. Rufus understood, " that there was never any power without demand." The city of Dallas, the State of Texas and "Sunny South Dallas" has lost a true warrior, and a drum major for justice and peace. R.I.P. my young brother. As I go to my Father in prayer, I will ask for a special blessing for the entire Shaw-Fylnt Family.

With warm regards,
James Brown, Professor of Fine Arts

Rufus, we talked, we expressed our opinions, and through it all, I learned a lot from you. I am going to miss you my brother. I am going to miss blogging with you.

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.

I can’t comprehend just how sad you must feel For the loss of someone you love. This sorrowful time must still feel unreal And you’re looking for strength from above.

I hope, from my heart, that your pain will decrease, That your spirit will gain strength again, And I pray that your faith will create inner peace And that God will send blessings--Amen.
