Yielding, Robert L DALLAS - Robert L Yielding, 87, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013. Family and friends will gather for visitation at 10:00 and service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Lakeside Baptist Church. Born April 29, 1925 in Corsicana, to James Grover Yielding and Ara Ester Yielding, After graduating from Corsicana High School in 1942, he joined the Navy training as a Navy pilot. He graduated from SMU, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineer degree in 1949. In 1974 Texas A&M presented the Dewitt C. Greer Award to Bob Yielding. He served as President of the Dallas Branch of ASCE from 1980-81. Working for the Texas Highway Department 1947-1987, he was appointed District Engineer for the seven-county Dallas District in 1980. In 1984 he was awarded ASCE Outstanding Achievement Award in the ?eld of Civil Engineering. Robert was a member of the Lakeside Baptist Church, enjoyed golf and bridge. His great sense of humor gave comfort and joy to many friends and family. He will be missed by all. Preceded in death by mother, father, & two sisters. Survivors include wife, Yvonne, his daughter, son-in-law, & granddaughter Karen, Bill & Katherine Livingston, twin sister Ruby & John Thompson, & many loving brother & sister-in-laws, nieces & nephews. In lieu of ?owers, the family suggest memorial contributions to the Salvation Army or SPCA. CORLEY FUNERAL HOME 903-874-3755

Bob was a great man and an exemplary public servant who served with distinction. Always professional, always courteous, always the gentleman! Texas was a better place because he was here. Condolences to his family and thanks for sharing him. May all who knew and loved Bob be blessed and comforted as we remember his legacy. David and Jean Dean

My condolences to Bob's family on his passing. Bob was truly a fine engineer and gentleman and a pleasure to work with on projects and with the American Society of Civil Engineers. He will also be missed by his extended engineering family.

One of the greatest men I have met in my life. He showed me the plane he trained in when he joined the Navy, and his work with the city of Dallas. A statesman, veteran, city leader and wonderful, loving family man. We love you today and always, Papa.
