Thomas Edward Weidner

LANCASTER: Thomas Edward Weidner of Santa Monica, California and Lancaster, Ohio, passed away November 11, 2012, at Pickering House in Lancaster. Born August 6, 1938, in Dayton, Ohio, the third of four children.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Helen (Heindl) Weidner, and brother Richard, all of Dayton. He is survived by his sister Mary Maus Greeley of Centerville, OH and brother Paul (Miriam) of Raleigh, NC, as well as many loved nieces and nephews.

For the past 50 years, Tom has shared a loving relationship with Dr. Joyce Herrold. In his lifetime, Tom faced many significant health problems with courage, grace, humor and with Joyce by his side.

Tom graduated from Chaminade High School in Dayton, OH and received a B.A. and M.A. from the College of Arts and Sciences at Ohio University. He served in the United States Air Force as an intelligence operations specialist in the Philippines. Tom had an avid interest in history, and political science, as well as golfing and BMW autos. He was very fond of a succession of Boston Terriers, all named Buster; he is survived by Buster IV of the residence. He was a member of the Lancaster Country Club where he had many friends, as well as the BMW Car Club of America and the Disabled American Veterans.

Visitation will be on Friday November 16, 2012 from 4-8PM at the Sheridan Funeral Home, 222 South Columbus St. Lancaster, Ohio, ph.740-653-4633. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Church, 132 South High St. in Lancaster on Saturday November 17 at 9:00AM. Interment to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery also in Lancaster, Ohio with military honors.
