Dear Kathy, Mike, Dave & Nancy,
Since I didn't see you at Douglas Lake this Independence Day week-end as I have seen you here for at least 45 years, I became concerned & looked up Harold's name on the internet. So I have learned of his death & am writing to send you and the grandchildren sympathy from Dennis & myself. Not having Harold here will seem very different & he will be missed in the Maple Bay area. His home (which many around here call "the half house") is very iconic and has always been a showplace. Having learned to know Harold a bit over the last few years, I found him to be a very, very nice man & I'm glad I have been
the zone rep for DLIA so I could have opportunities to chat with him. Having Harold, my parents, the Schusters, and Howard Huebner gone is kind of the end of an era here in Maple Bay, and it saddens me to think of these dear folks & how they all loved Douglas Lake and passed that love on to us. Anyway, just wanted you to know I'll be thinking of you over the next few days as you begin to adjust to life without your Dad. Hope to see you all sometime this summer.
