KAUFMAN, Patrick "Pat" age 57, formerly of the Englewood and West Milton areas, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 in Soliette, Haiti as the result of an accident. Pat was a licensed nurseryman and worked at the family business, Deeter Nurseries, Inc. for more than 30 years, and was a veteran of the US Army. Following his years at Deeter Nurseries, Pat and his wife were called to be missionaries with Hearts of Compassion and were assigned to the mountain area of Soliette, Haiti where they served until his death. He is survived by his wife of 33 years: Cheryl (Deeter) Kaufman, sons and daughters-in-law: Cole & Holly Kaufman of Ellensburg, WA, and Nicholas & Mareena Kaufman of Ludlow Falls, his mother and her husband: Betty (Maurer) & Butch Hawkins, brothers and sisters-in-law: Michael & Brenda Kaufman and David & Nan Kaufman, sister and brother-in-law: Joan & John Berg, mother-in-law and her husband: Myrna & Tom Booker, sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Cindy & Sean Tebics, grandson: Fenner Kaufman, and many other family members and special friends through out the world. He was preceded in death by his father: Charles D. "Pete" Kaufman. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the Community Grace Brethren Church (2261 S. Miami Street, West Milton, OH) with Brian Stull officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Church. Interment will be held privately at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens, Brookville. If desired, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Pat to the Heart of Compassion International Ministries, 6796 W. 1400 North, Silver Lake, IN 46982.
