Donald Joseph (Uncle Sleepy) HAPNER

News Death Notice

HAPNER, Donald Joseph "Uncle Sleepy" age 81, of Dayton, passed away December 19, 2013. Born on June 5, 1932 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Lester and Lulu (Reed) Hapner. Donald is survived by son, Jeffrey (Theresa) Hapner; sister, Barbara Weber; brother, Philip Hapner; grandsons, Bradley, Chadwick, and Tyler Hapner; his lifetime partner, Ruby Todd; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded by brothers, Kenneth, Paul, Richard, Robert, and David Hapner; sister, Sara Sue Brown. Donald served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War in 1952. He was employed at Dayton Press for over twenty five years and a member of the Iron Workers local 290. He was a wonderful man, brother, father, and grandfather. His smile and sense of humor will be missed by many. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM, Friday, December 27, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road Dayton, Ohio where funeral services will begin, 10 AM Friday. Burial at Miami Memorial Park Cemetery.
