News Death Notice
GILMORE, Jr. Howard Manning age 87, of Kettering passed away at his home May 6, 2014. He graduated from Worthington High School and proceeded on to attend The Ohio State University majoring in engineering. After college, he started his career journey at Battelle Institute and Ohio Die Casting in Columbus. In 1964, he moved his family to Kettering to start a joint venture die casting business called Accro-Cast Corporation. Howard loved his work and his family, as well as, photography. He will always be remembered for his stories and jokes, especially those told during his daily morning coffee outings at Meijer's and McDonalds. Howard was preceded in death by his parents Howard, Sr. and Johanna Gilmore, and a grandson Dylan Shimmin. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce; daughter, Cheryl (Don) Shimmin; son, Eric (Kathie) Gilmore; 3 grandchildren, Carson Gilmore, Kyle Shimmin, Kari Shimmin; numerous nieces and nephews and his other "daughter" Mandy, their dog. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00p on Thursday, May 8th at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Funeral services will be held at 3:00p following visitation hours. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Dayton. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.routsong.com
