HOLM, John Thomas Age 56, of Beavercreek, OH passed away at home on September 9, 2018. He fought a very courageous battle against pancreatic cancer for almost five years. John was born to Thomas and Bonnie (Soren) Holm in Des Moines, IA on November 27, 1961. He graduated from Ankeny High School in Iowa, earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from The University of Northern Iowa, and a Master's Degree in Education from Wright State University. John retired in 2015 from Wright State University where he was the Director of the Math Learning Center, and had 30 years of experience in math education. He was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church, where he was an usher. John was a loving husband to his wife Susan for 33 years, and devoted father to David (24) and Sarah (22). John was patient and kind, with a gentle, calm personality. He enjoyed reading, movies, walks in nature, biking, sports, traveling, and good food, especially sweets. He was preceded in death by his father, Tom; father-in-law, Bruce Schaeffer; uncle, Dick Holm; and nephew, Jeff Czapla. John is survived by his wife and children; mother, Bonnie Holm; brother, Dan (Jennifer) Holm and nephew Jeydon; mother-in-law, Joan Schaeffer; sister-in-law Karen (Rick) Czapla and niece Sophie; and other loving extended family. Family will greet friends Sunday, September 16, from 2-5pm at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E Stroop Rd, Kettering. Memorial Service will take place on Monday, September 17th at 10am at Christ United Methodist Church, 3440 Shroyer Rd, Kettering, OH 45429. Memorial contributions may be made in John's name to Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, 415 Crossways Park Drive, Suite D, Woodbury, NY 11797; Christ UMC; or Ohio's Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45420.
