News Death Notice

KENDALL, Joshua J. 39, of Dayton died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 following several years of failing health. He was born September 23, 1973 in Springfield the son of Stephen A. and Jacqueline (Lyons) Kendall. Joshua was born deaf and blind, but still graduated from Springfield South High, and attended the Ohio School for the Deaf in Columbus and the Helen Keller Institute in New York. He was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church and the Deaf Club in Dayton, and was a huge fan of the University of Michigan Football. Josh is survived by his longtime companion Florence Marr of Dayton and his cat Max; his mother Jacqueline Kendall and her fiance' Steven R. King; his brother Jason A. Kendall all of Urbana; three uncles John W. (Terrie) Lyons and Tom Kendall of Springfield, and David Lyons of Port St. Lucie, FL; two aunts Ann (Mick) Sparrow of Springfield and Sue Black of Morehead, KY; great uncle Dean Rutroff of Springfield; great aunt Jeanne Shoemaker of Indialantic, FL; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Stephen; grandparents Virgil and Emily Kendall, and John and Dorothy Lyons, Sr.; several aunts and uncles. The service to honor Joshua's life will be held Saturday at 3:00 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME, Springfield. The family will receive visitors for one hour prior to the service.
