News Death Notice

HARTLEY, Stephen Dale 61, of Huntsville, passed away, Saturday evening, November 24, 2012 at Mary Rutan Hospital Emergency Room, Bellefontaine, OH. Steve was born on July 27, 1951 in Dayton, OH to the late Lewis & Dorothy Pearson Hartley. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Everett Nelson. On June 27, 1970, he married the former Linda Nelson in Dayton, and she survives. He is also survived by his son, Scott D. Hartley of Independence, KY, three grandchildren, Justin Dale Hartley, Steven Richard Hartley and Madison Michelle Hartley, a sister, Coni (Wayne) Stanley of West Virginia, his mother-in-law, Della Nelson of Chillicothe, OH, and several family members and friends. Steve was a 1969 graduate of Meadowdale High School in Dayton. He was a police office with Dayton Police Department for 13 ½ years, retiring in 1995. Prior to his police service he worked at Dayton Tire and Rubber. He was a member of Muchinippi Christian Church in Lewistown, OH, FOP Captain John C. Post # 44, and John W. Durst #716 F & AM, both in Dayton, and Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533, in Lakeview, OH. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and wintering in Florida. He used Facebook to keep in touch and gave inspiration to many of his friends through his daily posts. He loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren and his special dog, Midge. A Gathering of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview. Memorial contribution may be given to the Stephen D.
