News Death Notice

KIRKMAN, William A. "Bill" age 87, completed his journey through life on January 5, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. He was born in Kentucky, August 26, 1926. He enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17 in Brooklyn Sampson, New Jersey. He proudly served in the Philippines on the USS Adair, as well as many other islands during WWII. He was always very proud and supportive of the US Military. He loved and enjoyed to talk about his time spent in the Philippines, about crossing the equator and his "war stories" about his time spent in the military. He worked as a foreman at NCR for many years until they closed. He then went on to work for Microfil Tool until his retirement. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters and a brother; as well as a special friend, Veda Wolfe. He is survived by his sisters: Ilene Mock of KY; Marge Perreira and Tony Smith of Hawaii; Nancy and Ivy Grace of Xenia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and friends. Bill truly enjoyed and appreciated life with his home gardening and many other aspects in life. Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Thursday, January 9, 2014 at McColaugh Funeral Home, Inc., 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia with Rev. Dr. E.M. Wardle officiating. Interment to follow at the Valley View Memorial Gardens, Xenia.
