Lawrence HARKER

1934 - 2019

HARKER, D.O., Lawrence Brent 84, departed this life surrounded by his family on January 18, 2019. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 17, 1934 to the late Nathan and Sylvia Harker. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and completed his studies at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. After finishing his training in Anesthesia, he went on to practice medicine at Grandview Medical Center in Dayton for over 40 years. During his tenure, he served as Chair of the Anesthesia Department and started the Pain Management Program. He also served as the President of the Dayton Academy of Osteopathic Medicine from 1975-76. He loved traveling, fishing, golfing and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed being a member of the Spring Run Farms Fishing Club. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda; children Ken (Cathy), Cindy (Mike), Randy (Lynda) and Jennifer (Jim); grandchildren Ryan, Chance, Kayla, Ali, Nick, Sydney and Andrew; great-grandchildren Ian and Isaiah; brother Stephen (Linda); sister Sherri (Ken) and a multitude of friends and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris. The family will receive friends and celebrate his life on Monday, January 21 from 4 7 p.m. at Settler's Walk Clubhouse, 520 Settler's Walk Blvd., Springboro, OH 45066. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made in memory of Larry to either Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420 or to your favorite animal charity in honor of his love of pets especially his beloved Brie.
