ALDRIDGE, Averil Rex age 87, long- term Fairborn resident passed away on July 12, 2011, at Emeritus at Fox Run after an extended illness. Averil was born January 6, 1924, in Pedro, Ohio to Harley and Bertha (Saunders) Aldridge. He graduated from Fairborn High School in 1942, and served in the Army Air Corps from 1942 - 1946. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Flavia Irene (McNeely); sons Averil Dean (LouSena) and Stephen Ray (Rebecca); grandchildren James (Denise) Aldridge, Aaron Aldridge, Scott (Tammy ) Aldridge, Emily Fox, and Gary (Joy) Aldridge; great-grandchildren Ian Aldridge, Alexander Fox, Ethan Aldridge, Gabriel Fergison, Jordan Aldridge, Tyler Fox, Alyssa Aldridge, Kara Aldridge, Morgan Aldridge, Gabrielle Aldridge, Elias Aldridge, and Abigail Aldridge; sister Wanita (Chalmer) Day; brothers Donald (Gloria) and Gary (DeAnn); sister-in-law Katherine Aldridge; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Harley Jr. For 30 years, Averil was employed by Universal Atlas, division of US Steel, retiring in 1977. After retirement, he worked as a Real Estate Agent for Brennan and Jeffries for 10 years. He was a member of Rona Community Church in Fairborn for over 70 years, and held many leadership positions. Averil will be remembered for his love and faithfulness to his Lord, and his family and friends, and being committed to living a disciplined Christian life. Funeral service 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Rona Community Church, 1082 Rona Parkway Drive, Fairborn, Ohio, with Dr. James Smith, Senior Pastor officiating. Viewing will be held Friday, July 15, 2011, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Rona Community Church, and 1 hour prior to service on Saturday. Interment will be at Byron Cemetery, Fairborn, Ohio.
