News Death Notice

DARLING, Donald Eugene age 83, sunrise Oct. 26, 1930-sunset March 4, 2014. Donald became a member of Third Baptist Church in Xenia, Ohio at an early age. He was a graduate of Xenia East High School in 1949. He was the first State of Ohio Certified Police Chief of Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio and also, a graduate of the Ohio Peace Officer Criminal Code Training Council and the Bureau of Identification and Investigation State of Ohio Police Academy. In his class he was one of four that finished first in the B.C.I. Academy examination out of fifty officers of the 25th London, Ohio Academy. A former Greene County Deputy Sheriff for 24 years under Russel A. Bradley. Special police officer in Dayton; Ohio-Indiana Police Association; past member of Buckeye State Sheriff's Association, Greene County Law Enforcement, also, served as Vice President of the Fraternal Order of Police in Greene County. He retired as Security Lieutenant Supervisor from Inland Division of General Motors Corporation in 1988. Preceded in death by his parents; sons, Paul Melvin and Kenyatta. Survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Yvonne; son, Donald Jr.; daughter, Paulette (Nathaniel) Brooks; stepchildren, Gene Jr. (Charlotte) Kittrell, Karen James, Marie and Marc Kittrell; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will be missed greatly by everyone. Special thanks to Grace Hospice and especially, Scott, Carleen and Cindy. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
