Jaclyn Netts KLINE Obituary
KLINE, Jaclyn Netts 86, departed this life on April 23, 2018 from COPD. She was born September 18, 1931 in Springfield, Ohio to Benjamin C. and Mildred (Hoover) Netts. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1949, attended Ohio University, returned to Springfield where on September 2, 1950 she married Robert L. Kline. When he was drafted in 1952, she stayed home, joining him at Ft. Knox, KY for the birth of their first child. After his discharge, they returned and built a home in Medway. Jackie was not a typical 50's mother; born years before her time and taking a liberal approach to almost everything. Teaching was in her blood; while she had young children, she finished her History degree Cum Laude at Wittenberg (1968). She substitute taught in the Tecumseh school system and later she received a teaching license from Wright State University, and taught Ohio History in the Fairborn Schools. She got library certification and became Park Hills High School's librarian for several years. After her husband died in 1977, she received another degree in computer science from Columbus State, and worked for Online Computer Library Center in Columbus, Ohio, Columbus State (adjunct professor) and Nationwide Insurance as a computer programmer. She spoke five human languages and two computer languages. Retiring young, she helped care for her sister, then moved to Florida for twenty years. There she worked part-time in the Saint Petersburg Times human resources department, and as an ESL teacher for the Tampa Bay Rays minor league Latino players. During those years, she traveled the world with Friendship Force. She returned to Ohio in 2011 and spent her last years near her family who survive: daughter Denise (Jerry) Derge of Fairborn, and Loren Kline of Atlanta, GA; her grandchildren, Jessica (Brent) Rossman and their daughters, Kyah and Norah; and Joel (Lindsey) Derge and their son Jaxson. She is also survived by her sister Jo Elin (Jeff) DuBois and their children who helped with her care; Lori Jo (Mark) McDevitt and Leslie (Mike) Perry, and Paul (Jennifer) DuBois. She is also survived by nephews Rick (Sherri) Callison and Ron (Kim) Callison, and niece Robin (Todd) Lemon; many grand-nieces and nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Benjamin C. Kline in 2007, as well as sister Normalee (Petie) Callison in 1989. Jackie's loves in life, other than her family, were art, music, language, cultures, traveling and baseball. Her memorial service will be held on May 19th at noon at First Presbyterian Church of Fairborn, 1130 Highview Dr., conducted by the Reverend David A. Girbert. The family will receive visitors at 11:00 AM. Donations may be made to Ohio Health Hospice, Kobacker House, 800 McConnell Dr. Columbus OH. 43214.
