BEERY, Mary E. Roosevelt/Roth Teacher dies at age 91 & 1/2. Mary is survived by her loved ones: her fabulous son, Gunner, his magnificent wife, Mary Ann, and six adorable grand dogs. Mary was born in St. Louis to Louis and Elizabeth Zuck and graduated from University of Missouri and Xavier University. She moved to Dayton in 1951 and was a teacher/ administrator in Dayton schools for 34 years. Mary was a member of the Red Cross for over 40 years, teaching life saving, water sports and writing water safety guidelines still followed today. She was a member of the Dayton Opera Guild, the Ohio Retired Teachers Assn, the Kidney Foundation and of Sam's Club (she loved Sam's Club). Mary was named one of Dayton's Top Ten Women in 1987. Mary was a model in print ads and appeared in the movie, "Public Eye ". She volunteered over 3,000 hours at Children's Hospital and over 1,000 hours at Kettering Hospital. She loved all types of animals and supported numerous charities including birds, bees, donkeys, dolphins, lions & tigers but loved her dogs and cats the most. Mary donated her body to Wright State University. Her life was one of service to her community. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 24, 2018 in the main chapel at St. Leonard's Catholic Church, 8100 Clyo Rd, in Centerville.
