SCHERMBECK, Ronald L. COLUMBIA, SC - Funeral service for Ronald L. Schermbeck, 68, will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 12:00 pm at Dunbar Funeral Home Northeast Chapel. The family will receive friends from 9:00-12 noon prior to the service. Born in Dayton, OH he was a son of the late Roy and Gladys Moore Schermbeck. Ron was a member of the Camden Lugoff Elks Lodge. He was a retired Product Engineer with Square D Company. Ron's greatest love was his family and he always took care of them. He showed his love for his family and friends with his cooking. If you knew Ron at all, you would have shared in one of his culinary delights! His greatest joy was watching family & friends enjoying one of his fabulous meals. He had a special relationship with each of his sons, daughter in laws, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. They valued his advice and sought it out frequently. He passed onto his children his high ethical sense of right and wrong. Ron was not afraid to express his opinion and fought fearlessly for what he thought was right. He was a best friend, lover, companion, dance partner and center of the world to his wife. He was amazing in the support he gave her. He did his best to keep her grounded and he mostly succeeded. Surviving is his wife, Vickie Schermbeck; sons and daughters in law, Chris (Janet) Schermbeck, Todd (Julie) Schermbeck, Kelly (Cynthia) Schermbeck; sister, Marilyn (Robert) Eberly; grandchildren, Joshua, Michael, Bobbie, Dylan, Eric, Samantha; sisters in law, Bette Omlor, Linda (John) Matheney; brother in law, Mike (Donna) Schwartz; "little sister" MiRan; nieces and nephews, Michael, David, Kim, Aaron, Eric, Teresa, Trisha. He was preceded in death by nephew, Joey; father and mother in law Agnes and Jerry Schwartz. Memorials may be made to Camden Lugoff Elks Lodge, P.O. Box 776, Lugoff, SC 29078 or American Cancer Research Foundation. Dunbar Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel is assisting the family. Please sign the online guestbook at www.dunbarfunerals.com
