CAMPBELL (Hites), Stacie Jo 46, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018, in Christus Sister Mary Hospice Center in San Antonio, Texas. Stacie was born in Wooster, Ohio on August 9, 1972, to Calvin C. and June A. (Mellinger) Hites. Growing up in Kettering, Ohio, Stacie graduated from Kettering Fairmont High School in 1990, attended Wright State University, and joined the U.S. Navy in February 1993. Stacie served 6 years in the Navy, stationed in Pensacola, Florida; Augsburg, Germany and Rota, Spain. While serving in the military, Stacie completed her Bachelor's Degree in Information Management Systems and Computer Studies. Joining civilian life again in 1999, Stacie worked several years for Ball Aerospace at Wright Patterson AFB (NASIC) in Dayton, Ohio, and eventually moved onto different job opportunities at MacDill AFB (SOCCENT) in Tampa, Florida, and Fort Bragg (JSOC) in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Stacie's love of America led her to numerous tours of duty as a civilian analyst working in Bagram, Afghanistan and Balad, Iraq, assisting and briefing missions for Special Forces teams. During this time she also earned her Master's Degree in Space Studies/Orbital Mechanics. Stacie, whose friendliness, positive attitude, and cheerful smile led her to being dubbed "Sunshine" by her coworkers and teammates, is survived by her husband, Arthur E. Campbell, her mother and father, a loving sister, Tonya, and brother-in-law, Layne Skidmore, and an adored niece, Sydney Skidmore; her stepfather, Bruce Archdeacon and stepmother, Ann Hites; aunts, uncles and numerous cousins and a host of friends from all over the world. Stacie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jeanne E. and Melvin L. (Budd) Hites; Rosa (Fern) and Paul A. Mellinger, all of Wooster, Ohio; uncle, John A. Hites and cousin, Brandi D. Mellinger. A Celebration of Life was held at Christ United Methodist Church in Kettering on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018. Donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project in Stacie's memory.
