Jr. "Ted" Florence, age 79, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 which was a symbolic date for a Vietnam Veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps. Ted was a graduate of Culver Military Academy and graduated from The Ohio State University. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. Ted was always up for an athletic challenge and was known for his speed and precision on the hand ball and racquetball courts. He had a fulfilling career in finance, and was most proud of his tenure with Red Roof Inn. As an avid Buckeye fan, he enjoyed watching OSU football and being with his family near and far during retirement. He was proud to take every opportunity to serve his country throughout his life. Ted was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Mary Katharine, and aunt Marian Valentine. He is survived by daughters Mary Katharine Shiple (Craig), Elizabeth Boyuk (Peter), son Tim Florence (Tonya); devoted brothers Phil and Sam Florence (Karen), sisters Barbara Florence and Kay Banion (Mike), grandchildren Kurt and Drew Shiple, Cassidy and Macy Boyuk, and several nephews and cousins including Tom, Jack, Michael, Patrick, Rob and Josh Florence.
