JAKAB, J Age 70, of Easton, MD, former resident of Oakwood, OH, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2012 with his wife and children at his side. He died from complications of a stoke. J. is survived by his wife, Melanie Jakab; his daughter Jennifer Thompson and son-in-law Josh; stepson Jason Googash and daughter-in-law Hilliary; 3 adorable grandchildren, Ethan, Rylee and Jakab; sisters Ilona Dever and her husband Ron; Cass Leschak and husband Doug; and 5 sisters and brothers-in-law and their spouses; plus many nieces and nephews. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on November 11, 1942, to John and Garnet Jakab. J. was lovingly referred to as a renaissance man by his wife. He was a talented musician, an artist, a prolific writer and a true scholar. He loved to learn and that was probably his favorite hobby. After spending 4 years in the Air Force in the early 60s. J. joined Chrysler Air Temp and thus began his long and devoted career to all things associated with the world of computers. He was a master systems programmer, an excellent software developer, a leader while at GMISCA in the world of technology and the newly developing areas of information and development centers. He and his business partner opened their PC training company, Jakab & Webster, in 1989. J. might sound like a geek, but he was far from it. He had the best sense of humor, loved being silly with his kids and grandkids and enjoyed the quiet times with his wife. He was the intellectuals intellectual and all who knew him came away felling enriched by knowing him. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 19th at the Parkersburg Country Club, 4910 1st Avenue Vienna, WV 26105 at 1:00 PM. The County Club phone number is 304-295-8551.
