CORDES, Norbert D. Age 79, of Farmersville, went to be with the Lord on March 23, 2013 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born at home on his family's farm in Farmersville on September 1, 1933 to the late William & Alice (Sears) Cordes. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by loving wife of 55 years Marilyn A. (Swartzel). Norbert was a loving and devoted father to sons Steven (Lisa), Bradley (Janet) and Jon (Robin): loving grandfather to Shannon (Michael), BJ (Susie), Miranda (Timmy), Kegan (Ashlie), Anthony (Erin), Ashley (Troy), Seth, Kody, Karson, and Grayson: loving great grandfather to Kelsie, Brendan, Tanner, Skyler, Jordan, Tristyn, Kylie, Raighen, Peyton and Gavin. Norbert is also survived by a sister Marirose Stiver: niece Kim Reeder; and nephew Brent Stiver. Norbert was a life long farmer, and also worked as a Parts Manager for a number of Chevrolet dealerships, retiring from Rodney Cobb Chevrolet. He was a graduate of Farmersville High School and the General Motors Institute. Norbert was a lifelong member of Slifers Presbyterian Church; a member of Farmersville Masonic Lodge #482; member and Past Patron of OES Chapter #155. Norbert enjoyed his family, farming, auto racing and sports, especially basketball. Friends may call on the family from 5:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria. Both Masonic and Eastern Star services will be held during the later part of the visitation. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Karl Hanhart presiding. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Slifers Presbyterian Church, Farmersville Fire and Rescue, or Hospice of Dayton. Burial Preble Memory Gardens.
