RUTLEDGE, John Henry age 83, of Clayton, OH, departed this life Saturday, April 26, 2014. He was a lifelong resident of the Dayton area, faithful member of Phillips Temple C.M.E. Church, veteran of the U. S. Army, former employee of Dayton, Tire & Rubber Co., Cum Laude graduate of Central State University and a retired accountant of Wright Patterson AFB. Preceded in death by his parents, Rev. King & Lucy Rutledge; first wife & mother of his daughter, Annye Dawson Rutledge; sisters, Mary L. Carter & Lucy Elizabeth Smith; brothers, William K., Albert W. & James "Andy" Rutledge. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving & devoted wife of 24 years, Nancy; daughter, Cheryl (Orville) Littlejohn of Detroit, MI; brother, Joseph C. (Phyllis) Rutledge; sisters, Lillian Lorelle Goodloe & Phyllis (Ed) Crawford; loving stepchildren, Dianne (Robin) Jones, Donna Burroughs & William "Bill" Burroughs; special niece & nephew, Jill Dawson-Fields & Earl Rutledge; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; other nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. Funeral service will be held 12 noon Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Phillips Temple C.M.E. Church, 3620 Shiloh Springs Rd. Rev. James E. Washington officiating. Interment Dayton National Cemetery. Visitation from 9 am-12 pm. Family will receive friends from 11 am-12 pm. Arrangements by House of Wheat.
