Winfred Sidney "Sid" Staker
Age 77, of Bear, DE, went home to be with the Lord on February 1, 2013.
Sid proudly served our country in the US Marine Corps. He worked as a transmission foreman for Delmarva Power and retired after 35 years service. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and cherished the time he spent with his family. Sid was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church; he had a passion for helping others and was generous to anyone in need. He was a mentor to many people, had a heart of gold and never judged anyone.
Sid is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Alice C. Staker; 3 daughters, Theresa McCune, Carrie Staker-Jones and husband Robert, Sherri Fromal and husband Dennis; and son, John Staker and wife Cynthia; 2 sisters, Margaret Zonick and Nancy Hutton; and 13 grandchildren.
A service in celebration of Sid's life will be on Thursday, February 7, at noon in Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 3135 Summit Bridge Rd., Bear, DE 19701, where a visitation will be held from 11 am to 12 pm. Burial will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE. In lieu of flowers contributions can be sent to the American Diabetes Foundation, Suite 1002, 100 W. 10th St., Wilm., DE 19801. Sid, You were a an excellent guy to guy to work for. Like Mr. Conrad, Shaw, Hanna, Reed and many others. My health conditions will stop attendance to the service. Was my pleasure to work with you and know Alice. Great bunch of guys from the Transmision Shop. Thanks for looking out for the young guy like me....I thought of you often. Thanks/
