Albert E. Hooey
AGE: 88 • Wilmington
Albert Hooey, 88, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on January 22, 2014, with his wife at his side. Albert was born to the late Lewis and Margaret (Morton) Hooey on December 28, 1925 in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Albert grew up in Ireland, where he attended Trinity College in Dublin. He became a naturalized US citizen in 1952 after his family immigrated to and settled in Wilmington, DE. Albert married Esther Mae Sinex in Wilmington, DE on October 15, 1955. Together they shared a life of love and everlasting friendship. Albert had a long career with both the DuPont Company and Hercules.
Albert is survived by his wife of 58 years, Esther; his sister, Iris Best; his brother, Desmond Hooey; sister-in-law, Ruth Collins; brother- in-law, Gilbert Sinex and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Albert's life will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am. Entombment will be held in the chapel at All Saints Cemetery at 2:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Albert's name may be made to the Delaware Humane Association, 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801, or Heartland Hospice, 256 Chapman Road, Suite 102, Newark, DE 19702.
A big "thank you" to Heartland Hospice for the compassionate care provided to Albert in his final days.

Esther,you are ih our thoughts and prayers at this time of grief. However I am reminded of his love for life. Enjoying his travels with you,visiting with my children,even thow the times were brief,but with lots of fun and love. He was a good brother to me and my family throughout his lifetime.
I am sad that Albert is no longer with us physically,but he will always remain in my memory forever.
We had a grat time in seattle at my grandson's wedding. Esther,that is a great memory for all of us.
Take good care of yourself Esther,you are always in our prayers.
