Keith B. Canady
Keith Benton Canady, age 56, of Newark, DE passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2013 after living with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) for 10 years. Keith's grace and dignity in the face of such challenging circumstances were an inspiration to so many.
Born in Reidsville, NC, Keith grew up in Tampa, FL, graduating from Hillsborough High School. After proudly serving in the United States Navy, Keith settled in Delaware to marry and raise a family. He was a long time employee of Delmarva Power.
Keith married Anna Hern Canady in June 2000 and together they shared a special love and devotion to one another. A loving father and grandfather, Keith found great joy in his family, especially his granddaughter. Keith loved summer vacations to the Outer Banks and winters in Florida visiting family. He was a devoted Eagles and Phillies fan.
Keith was predeceased by his father, Charles. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Marge Canady Gibson and husband, Gary; daughter, Kristin Rehberg and husband, Sinclair; son, Kevin Benton Canady and girlfriend, Lauren Folwell; granddaughter, Lilia Rehberg; and former wife and friend, Donna M. Canady. Also surviving are brother, Jeff Canady; sister, Vicki Drady and husband, George; sister, Wendy Holbert and husband, Dean; his in-laws, the Hern family; many beloved nieces and nephews; and dogs, Utley and AJ. Keith is also survived by his dear friend and caregiver, Peter Kamami; many other friends and the most wonderful neighbors anyone can imagine.
Our family would like to extend special thanks to our friends at the ALS Association Greater Philadelphia Chapter and the Wilmington VA who provided loving care to Keith.
A celebration of Keith's life will be held on Friday, October 11 from 4:30 - 7:00PM at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek. A memorial service will also be held in Tampa, FL at a later date.

Words cannot express the love that I feel for my brother and my family. Unfortunately the twist and turns of life separated us on a daily basis but when we were together it was like no time had gone by. I will miss you laughing with and especially at me. Thank you to my Saint Ann. I love you sister.
