Mr. John William Robson, age 80, of Port Penn, DE, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013.
A native Delawarean, Mr. Robson was born in Wilmington on January 17, 1933, son of the late Hector W. Robson and Margaret A. Musselman Robson. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War. In civilian life, he made his career with the Texaco Refinery in Delaware City, where he retired as a shift foreman in 1988 after 32 years of service. He later accepted a position with the State of Delaware Department of Parks and Recreation where he worked for five years until 1997.
Active in his community, Mr. Robson was a member of Ionic Lodge #31 AF & AM in Newport and the Moose Lodge in Middletown. He was a Life Member of the VFW in Port Penn, DE.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan R. Edwards Robson and a great grandson, Joey Allen MacCord. He is survived by his children, Anna Farmer of Port Penn, Barbara Demark and husband Irvin of New Castle, John Robson, Jr. of Wilmington, and Charles Robson of Wilmington; sisters, Joyce Harlan and Loretta Heath, both of FL; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the Delaware City Fire Company, 815 5th St., Delaware City, DE 19706.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.
