Nancy J. Stapleford
Mrs. Nancy J. Stapleford, age 70, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2013.
Mrs. Stapleford was born in Norfolk, VA, on September 24, 1942, daughter of the late Carlton J. Byrd and Virginia L. Powell Byrd. She worked as a retail manager for many years. A loving wife and mother, she delighted in spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Favorite times included traveling to many interesting places and cheering at NASCAR races with her husband. She also greatly enjoyed crocheting beautiful pieces as gifts for family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Robert John "Hawk" Stapleford, Jr., on January 20th of this year. She is survived by her children, Karen L. Steele (Kirk) of Rehoboth Beach and Robert John Stapleford III of Dover; brother, Carl J. Byrd of Melfa, VA; sisters, Martha Lee Parks of Exmore, VA, Carolyn Byrd Shields of Parksley, VA, and Brenda Eileen Barnes of Exmore, VA; grandchildren, Nicole, Alyssa, Robert IV, Ian, and Nicholas; and great grandchildren, Dustin and Evan.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Monday, July 15, 2013, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 399 Market Street, Ste. 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.

I worked with Mrs. Stapleford many years ago when what is now Kohl's was Almartshe was head of HR at the time, a very kind lady.
