Jonathan Stuart Murphy, age 44, of Long Neck, DE passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2016 surrounded by his family at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE.
Born in Wilmington, DE Jonathan was a 1990 graduate of Paul M. Hodgson Vocational-Technical High School. After graduation he was employed with Esbar Equipment Company for 15 years before moving to Long Neck, where he loved his life on the water. Jonathan was best known for his love of family and friends and tried to spend every day living life to the fullest.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Patrick Riley Murphy and Patrick's mother, Michelle Lindo Murphy; his parents, Robert and Beth Murphy; his brother, Bryan Murphy and his wife Christine and their children, Liam and Quinn Murphy. Jonathan shared close relationships with his extended family who share in this loss.
A funeral service will be held Friday, August 19, 2016 at 11:00 am at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends and family may call after 10:00 am. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jonathan's memory may be made to the Cape Henlopen Food Basket, PO Box 168, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.

It had been many years since I had seen John, last was when our mothers were in sorority. He definitely makes an impression, so i was fortunate to get to know him through Facebook and know that he was cherished by his friends and family. Heaven has gained another angel.

Murph always had a smile and kind words of welcome for us no matter where we saw him on Long Neck. He remembered everyone and made us feel right at home. We will miss you Murph. You touched so many lives. We're grateful to have known you. Rest in Peace.
