Lubomyr Yurechko, known as Lou to his family and friends, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 20, 2014.

Born in a refugee camp in Stuttgart, Germany following WWII, Lou emigrated to the United States with his Ukrainian parents, Michael & Olga Yurechko, in 1953. After growing up in Allentown, Pennsylvania Lou enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. He met his sweetheart Patricia following his discharge from the Marines. Lou and Patricia were married in 1972.

Lou graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University and worked for 30 years at DuPont.

Outside of work, Lou enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, working with his hands, restoring antique cars, cooking, and listening to country music.

Lou is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patricia Yurechko, and his son Mark Andre Yurechko, daughter-in-law Sadie, and granddaughter Ryan (of Campbell, CA) and his son Douglas Alan Yurechko, daughter-in-law Terri, and grandson Aaron (of Bethesda, MD)

A visitation will be held this Saturday, March 1 from 12-2pm at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Pike Creek.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project ( in memory of Lubomyr Yurechko.
