Michael J. Goodrick

Friend and consigliere for generations of Delaware families, Michael J. Goodrick, age 64, died October 9, 2013. A graduate of St. Edmonds Academy, Archmere Academy, Georgetown University and Louisiana State University School of Law, Mike was admitted to the Supreme Court of Louisiana and the Supreme Court of Delaware. He began 25 years of general practice with the firm of Theisen, Lank, Mulford, and Goldberg. Founding his own firm in 1999, Mike focused on his clients as individuals, treating everyone with respect. Even with his dedication to work, he remained devoted to his family. Mike served in leadership positions with numerous civic and professional associations. He enjoyed many years coaching his sons' sports teams in baseball, soccer and basketball and as their adult leader with the Boy Scouts of America.

As a youth, Mike was an avid hunter and he enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether fishing the streams of Montana, the Lakes of New England or the tidal waters of Delaware. As an active member of the Appalachian Mountain Club, he treasured his days of hiking and cross country skiing from the banks of Brandywine Creek to the Presidential Range of New England.

Mike is predeceased by his mother, Ann M. (Duffy) Goodrick and his stepmother, Audree (Renner) Goodrick. He is survived by his father, the Honorable Harry J. Goodrick, and his wife Carol (Sandy) Goodrick of Fairhill, MD. Also surviving are his beloved wife of 42 years, Mary (Chris) Goodrick; son, Sean, and his wife Julia and their daughters, Evelyn and Meredith of Wilmington, DE; son, Liam, and his wife Jamie and their daughter Nina of Chester Springs, PA; his brother, Harry Jr. (Joe), and his wife Jane of Baltimore, MD; and his sister, Kathleen Shiplett, and her husband Wesley of Atlanta GA, together with their son, Kyle, and his wife Karen of Boston, MA, and daughter, Kristin, and her husband Cpt. Eric Smith of Seattle, WA.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE on Friday, October 18 from 6 pm to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Catholic Church, 10 Old Church Rd, Greenville, DE 19807, at 10 am on Saturday, October 19. Burial will take place at a later date in New England.
