Paul J. McCracken

Paul J. McCracken passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 28, 2012.

Paul was born in 1929 in Wilmington to Frank and Marie (Warwick) McCracken.

Paul was graduated from H. C. Conrad High School in 1949 and Widener University in 1977.

Paul began his 36 year career at E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co., in the General Services Department as an Electrician.

During the Korean conflict, Paul enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the USS Orion and the USS Cascade. Paul was an Electrical Technician and Cryptographic Repair Technician and his tours of duty include the Atlantic and Mediterranean Theatres.

Paul resumed his DuPont service and later advanced to Electrical Designer, Engineer - Power, Dept. Safety Engineer, and finally project Engineer for Security and Life-Safety Projects. Following his DuPont Service, Paul was Vice President, Operations, for Fire Protection Electronics for 11 years until his retirement.

Paul leaves behind his loving wife Elaine. Paul and Elaine celebrated their 54th Wedding Anniversary on April 12th. Theirs was an especially loving and caring relationship. Paul is survived by his four children, J. David McCracken, Neal F. McCracken, Barbara A. McCracken and Suzanne F. McCracken and his grandson, Lt. Brendan D. McCracken.

Paul is also survived by his nephews Bob and Mark Stone. Paul is predeceased by his sister Phyllis.

Paul's expertise, keen wit, and sense of humor will be missed by all. A Memorial Mass will be given at St. Helena's Roman Catholic Church, 602 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 11:30 a.m, where friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Burial will be private.
