William I. Bixler

William Irvin Bixler, age 67, of Elkton, MD, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014. Born in Chester, PA, on July 17, 1946, he was the son of the late Russell and Arlene Ramburger Bixler.

Mr. Bixler was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired as an auditor with PJM Interconnections, King of Prussia, PA. Mr. Bixler was a member of Elkton United Methodist Church, Elkton, MD. An avid fly fisherman, he enjoyed making bamboo fishing rods. Mr. Bixler also enjoyed cooking, gardening, woodworking, golfing and spending time reading in his pool.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Phyllis Smith Bixler; son, Christopher William Bixler and wife, Megan, Bethesda, MD; brother, David R. Bixler and wife, Donna, Media, PA; niece, Danielle Bixler; and nephew, David Bixler.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Elkton United Methodist Church, 219 E. Main St., Elkton, MD, where visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Elkton United Methodist Church, or to Johns Hopkins University (Dr. Herman Pancreatic Cancer Research), in care of Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, MD 21921.
