Lolita Lamborn Obituary

Lolita H. "Lodie" Lamborn

Wilmington - Lolita H. Lamborn, age 87, died peacefully on November 10, 2017. Lodie was born on September 5, 1930 in Landenberg, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Arthur L. Hitchens and Gladys Irey Hitchens Pettit and step-daughter of the late Horace E. Pettit.

Lodie was a graduate of Kennett High School. She was also a graduate of Goldey-Beacom College. Lodie worked for the DuPont Company and St. Anthony's Community Center, but her main passion in life was her family. Lodie met her soulmate, the late James Joseph Foxx "Jim" Lamborn, while they were students at Kennett High School. Jim and Lodie enjoyed nearly sixty years of marriage and raised eight children together. Lodie was a devoted wife and mother who always made her family her priority. She loved watching her children and grandchildren playing sports. She was also an avid fan of horseracing and especially enjoyed watching the Triple Crown races and Breeder's Cup.

Following the death of her husband, Jim, Lodie lived with and was lovingly cared for by her daughter and son-in-law, Valorie and Rob Maloney, until her death.

Lodie was predeceased by her parents, step-father, and brother, Arthur L. Hitchens. Lodie is survived by her children, Joyce Mahoney (Jim), Valorie Maloney (Rob), James Lamborn (Kevin), Gail Golacinski (Don), Larry Lamborn (Tino), Jerry Lamborn (Erika), Michele Riehle (Rick), and Cheryl Brown; her grandchildren, Kathleen, Jimmy, Lauren & Erin Mahoney; Brianna and Blaire Maloney; Meg Massey (David) and Leah Lamborn; Tyler and Kyrstyn Golacinski; Jessica, Jasmine, and Jada Lamborn and Eric Butler; Fred, Alex and Michael Riehle; Jamie England (Rich) and Kylie Brown; and great-grandchildren, Justin Mahoney; Liliana and Lucas Massey; and Mason England. Lodie is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Eleanor Hitchens, Patricia Begley (Ed), and Lois Fuqua (Bob).
