Leroy M. Jones, Jr.

Wilmington - Leroy Marshall Jones, Jr., son of the late Leroy Jones Sr. and Florence Jones, was born Feb 16, 1943 in Wilmington, Delaware. He departed into God's hands, at his residential home, on Tuesday, July 7, 2020.

He attended Brown Technical High School in Wilmington, Delaware. While in high school, he loved to play basketball and was known as "Grasshopper". In meeting his best friend Sheila Tillman, a beautiful friendship later blossomed into marriage. Leroy and Sheila birthed their first and only child, Selina E. Jones.

Leroy was a dependable Chemical Technician and Supervisor for the employers of ICI/Stuart Pharmaceuticals for 15+ years. Upon his early retirement, Leroy worked for a law firm, video shop, established his own tax business and provided photography services.

Leroy Jones was a special man who lived life to the fullest! When not engulfed with his businesses, Mr. Jones enjoyed taking walks, having great conversations, capturing wedding photography, collecting state quarters, traveling, bowling, attending picnics, watching various sporting games, golfing, making people laugh and spending quality time with loved ones!

Leroy is survived by his lovely daughter, Selina Jones; son-in-law: Rodney Wilson; sisters: Jackie Jones, Valerie Woodard; granddaughter: Shawanda Wilson; sisters-in-law: Andrea Saunders, Valerie Tillman, Patricia Mayfield; brothers-in-laws: LaMar Tillman Jr., Blane Tillman, Eric Tillman, Jerome Saunders; a godson: Ernest Lewis Jr., and a host of nieces and nephews.

Leroy was preceded in death by his wife, mother, father, one sister and two nieces.

There was a Graveside Ceremony on July 14, 2020. There will be a future Celebration of Life in the fall when Covid-19 gets better.
